Vin 888 Pty Ltd is a family business concern of Angie Joson- Olsen and Glenn Olsen.
It started in retailing wines, spirits, and specialty beers with two retail outlets in Albert Park and Camberwell. In trying to be different from any wine stores, the business developed a niche market for specialty products of which “cleanskins” (generic branding) is one of them. Due to the popular demand for “cleanskins”, the company decided to venture into wine production and Olsen Wines was born.
The Olsen Wines label - the company’s flagship was established in 1993 and has since then received awards at major shows entered. Glenn Olsen, the chief winemaker imparts his passion for winemaking, producing quality syle of wines. Vin 888 has now develop three brands in their portfolio. The Big Fella range is Glenn’s signature wine style together with his very limited Heroes Blend (Shiraz/Grenache). Triholm Station is their entry level wine.
The company has also grown its reputation with in the grape growers with
its increasing winemaking contracts. Vin 888 is a quality and value for money producer not an image maker - but a real winemaker! The same level of care and attention is applied to every wine in its range regardless of price. Vin 888 is unique because it specializes in private labels and “cleanskins” and can produce wines almost made to order depending on customer’s requirements and taste. For instance, it can produce special blend to cater to the growing Asian market’s taste and budget or for the American palate. Vin 888 is categorized as a Boutique Wine Producer - not a formulated/commercial winemaker.
Vin 888 has established MELBOURNE’S FIRST INNER SUBURBAN WINERY in OAKLEIGH, Victoria. For export purposes, the international buyer will only have to travel 30 minutes from the airport to the winery’s doorstep - “a great advantage for visiting buyers with limited time in Victoria.”
About the Winemaker
Glenn Olsen is the chief winemaker of Vin888. He is a Science & Engineering Graduate of University of Melbourne. Glenn has been in the wine industry since 1975. He started in importation of wines and spirits from Europe and directly marketed them around Australia. He then moved into retailing to have outlets for his imported products. In 1991, borne out of his passion for wine, he started wine production and has produced award-winning wines.
